Thermal insulation of a passive house

In a passive house, the main prerequisite is to reduce energy losses through transmission and ventilation. The main part of the heat demand is covered by "passive" sources such as solar radiation and waste heat from people and technical equipment. To provide sufficient heat, in addition to controlled ventilation of the living space with heat recovery, excellent thermal insulation of all surrounding surfaces is required - from the roof to the windows to the basement walls and foundations. The building envelope must be largely sealed and thermal bridges and leaks must also be avoided at the connection points. This is the only way to ensure a pleasant indoor climate with low energy consumption.
